If you’re looking for a place to stay near Narita, whether it’s the night before an early flight or right after landing, one of the first options that comes to mind for many people is Toyoko Inn.

Toyoko Inn Narita Airport Honkan & Shinkan has basically become a go-to hotel around Narita International Airport.

It offers a free airport shuttle, free breakfast, a 24-hour convenience store on the ground floor, and parking.

For a standard twin room, the price is usually around $60–$70 per night for two people.
For anyone catching a flight, it’s hard not to consider this place.

Where Is Toyoko Inn Narita Airport Honkan ?

Toyoko Inn Narita Airport Honkan is located in Narita City, Chiba, right next to Narita International Airport.

It’s not inside the airport or in the busy downtown area. Instead, it sits in a quieter, more open area near the airport, with fewer crowds and a more relaxed atmosphere.

Because of this, its pros and cons are very clear.
The biggest advantage is its proximity to the airport:

• About 5-10 minutes by car to Terminal 2
• Around 10-15 minutes to Terminal 1

If you have an early morning flight or arrive late at night, this location is incredibly convenient.

On the flip side, the surrounding area is quite limited in terms of food and things to do.

Within walking distance, there aren’t many restaurant options. At night, your main choices are the Lawson on the first floor or heading back to the airport (where most restaurants close around 8 PM).

Alternatively, you can walk about 10 minutes to grab a meal at Sukiya.

Overall, it’s best suited for travelers with flight schedules, rather than those planning to explore Narita city.

Toyoko Inn Narita Airport Honkan: How to Take the Free Shuttle Bus

The shuttle between the airport and hotel is free and does not require a reservation, just check the schedule and line up.

From the Airport to the Hotel

• Terminal 1: Exit from the South Wing Arrival Hall (South Exit S2), cross the street, and head to Bus Stop No. 16
• Terminal 2: Exit from the Central Exit (1F Arrival Hall), cross the street, and go to Bus Stop No. 31-B

From Terminal 2, simply follow the signs outside to the bus stops.

After crossing a small road, you’ll find the waiting area at Stop 31-B.

This stop is shared by several hotels, but the Toyoko Inn bus is easy to spot, it’s blue with a large “Toyoko Inn” logo.

From the Hotel to the Airport

The shuttle from the hotel to the airport is also free and doesn’t require a reservation, just head down and line up before departure.

The bus stops in front of Shinkan, and the route goes: Terminal 2 first → then Terminal 1

The ride takes about 10-15 minutes, and buses run roughly every 20 minutes.

During peak hours (around 7:30-8:30 AM), buses can fill up quickly, so it’s a good idea to go downstairs a bit earlier to secure a seat.

Honkan & Shinkan: Which One to Choose?

When booking Toyoko Inn Narita Airport, the first question is usually: Honkan or Shinkan?

After arriving, it turns out they’re extremely close, basically right next door, and even connected on the first floor.
They share the same shuttle stop and facilities, so in terms of location and convenience, there’s almost no difference.

The main difference between the two comes down to how new they feel.
Shinkan, which opened in 2017, is newer and slightly brighter overall, while Honkan is older but has been renovated, giving it a more classic business hotel feel, though it’s still clean and comfortable.

One important thing to note is that if you’re looking for a bit more space, Honkan is the better choice, as Shinkan only offers standard-sized rooms.

Toyoko Inn Narita Airport Honkan: Room Review

We arrived at Toyoko Inn Narita Airport Honkan by shuttle bus from Narita International Airport in the evening, and check-in was done using the self-service machine at the front desk.

Originally I booked a Economy Twin Room (14㎡), but got upgraded to a Deluxe Twin Room (33㎡), such a nice surprise!
The extra space made a huge difference. The room felt super spacious and comfortable.

The bathroom was a standard size, clean and functional👇

Amenities were well prepared, basic items like a toothbrush, shampoo, conditioner, and body wash were all provided. If you need extras like skincare, razors, or cotton swabs, you can just pick them up in the lobby for free.

The TV isn’t very big, but it supports YouTube and Netflix.

Soundproofing was better than expected. You could still hear a bit of noise from the hallway, but it was very faint, overall quieter than many business hotels.

The first-floor public area at Toyoko Inn Narita Airport Honkan has quite a few useful facilities.

Starting with the vending machines, they’re cashless. Just scan a QR code, choose your drink on the webpage, and pay online. It supports multiple payment methods, which is really convenient.

They even have their own branded sparkling water, with a nicely designed can, small detail, but kind of cool.

There’s also a water dispenser, which is a big plus since many hotels don’t provide one.

A huge advantage is the 24-hour Lawson on the ground floor. If you arrive late at night and need food, drinks, or snacks, everything is right there. Especially in an area with limited options, having a convenience store downstairs is incredibly helpful.

Toyoko Inn Narita Airport Honkan: Breakfast Review

One of the highlights of Toyoko Inn Narita Airport Honkan is the free breakfast, which is a big part of the brand’s appeal.

Breakfast is served in the first-floor lobby, with a mix of Japanese and Western options.

You’ll find items like rice, miso soup, scrambled eggs, sausages, curry, tamagoyaki, along with salads, pickles, bread, butter, and drinks like coffee, tea, and milk.

Nothing too fancy, but solid and satisfying enough to start the day.

Toyoko Inn Narita Airport Honkan: Nearby Attractions

There aren’t many attractions within walking distance of Toyoko Inn Narita Airport Honkan, this area is mainly designed for short stays before or after flights.

That said, if you have half a day to spare, there are still a couple of places worth visiting.
The top recommendation is Naritasan Shinshoji.

It’s about a 15-minute drive from the hotel. Alternatively, you can take the shuttle to Terminal 2 (about 10 minutes), then transfer to the Keisei Line and get off at Keisei Narita Station (around 20-30 minutes total).

Founded in 940, this temple is the most iconic attraction in Narita. The approach leading up to the main hall is especially enjoyable, lined with eel restaurants and traditional sweet shops. Setting aside half a day here is just about right.

If you’re interested in aviation, you might also enjoy the Museum of Aeronautical Sciences.

It’s located near the airport, take the shuttle to Terminal 2, then a short bus ride (about 12 minutes).

Inside, you’ll find exhibits covering aviation history and technology. It’s a more niche attraction, but definitely fun if you’re into planes.
